Paypal and online membership form 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
At last nights meeting I suggested that we should look into enabling people to pay for the their membership online using paypal. The cheapest way that I could come up with would be to get either myself or Dom (the membership people) to set up a paypal account to receive the cash. We then write a cheque each month to the common place for the amount received.
At the meeting it was thought that this may not be best practice and that maybe we should look into setting up a common place paypal account. At the time I thought that this may be a good idea but this morning think differently. If we were to set up a commonplace paypal account then anyone who knew the password would have complete control over the cash within the whole bank account. Currently cheques need two signatories but with that system anyone who checks that account could empty the main bank account with ease.
So I think that if we are to have a system for people paying by paypal then we should do it as I first suggested. Use a personal account of someone who administers the membership data_base_ (so we can match online form submitions with payments). Each month they write a cheque to the commonplace to cover the amount received.
