Have you or your band ever played at the common place?

If so, would you like to donate a track for our compilation CD? This is to raise some cash to keep us open, whilst we appeal to get our entertainments license back.

We're going to appeal, to try to get our license back, but until then our main source of income (selling booze at events) is stopped. So we need to raise some money right now.

We thought about having another 'please give generously' type appeal, so we can keep paying the rent etc., but where's the fun in that?! Wouldn't it be more fun to make a CD to celebrate all the brilliant DIY acts that have played here over the last 3 years, and sell 'em?

So that's what we're doing. And this is where you come in...

You'll be listed on the packaging along with the date you performed here. If we get enough tracks donated, we might even be able to release more than one CD (music grouped according to genre or something)

The plan is to distribute through local outlets (records shops, cafes, etc.) and through our website, for £10 £7 a piece.

Just a little update:

We've had some fantastic offers of help with distribution and we already have some music - but keep it coming.

If you want to submit some music, please email it in a high quality format (eg. .flac) or take/post it to the common place, FAO Mark Ruddell.

The working group will be making the decisions about what music gets included in what order, but we think it's important that the text that goes on the packaging is approved by a general meeting, so we'll be hoping to achieve consensus on that on 21st August - we'll circulate our draft before, for comments.
