Hi all This is just a note to those who operate the PA system to let you know of recent changes. I've finally traced the reduced LF fault on the left side to an out of phase speaker. I've corrected this with a special out of phase link cable which is labelled with a circle with a line through it (can't remember the Greek name). It is important that the signal from the amp goes into the top 'W' bin first and then is linked into the bottom one with this cable. We have also collected another pair of 'W' bins from the Brudenel. All 4 W's are run from a Yamaha 5000 with the 18subs running off the c-audio. There is now shit loads of bottom end so be careful to use the hi pass filter on the desk for everything except bass drum and bass guitar. The system has been re-tuned and eq-ed at the cross-over and sounds great with the front of house graphic flat. Use the FOH graphic to take out problem frequencies on vocal mics etc. The mixer and FOH rack are now fixed to a table in locked cases and hardwired ready to go. This should be a great time saver. A 'DJ' box has been fixed to the pillar which runs 2 xlrs round to the stage/wall box area. There are now more new and repaired mic cables. In the mic box there is a plastic clip which can fix a mic straight onto a drum rim without need of a mic stand. I have ordered 3 more and some new mic holder/clips. My 2 big 15inch wedges are now in action with new x-overs, hf drivers and horn flares. This means we have 6 (3 pairs) of wedges available. Only 4 can be used together at anyone time. As each pair sound drastically different only like wedges should be linked together if more than 2 wedges in total are required. Jess reported a 'hiss/noise' at occasional gigs. I've been unable to recreate this problem and suspect it may be interference from that rope lite, either the dimmer causing noise in the mains or induction into bands backline amplified by the PA. Please contact me if any other noises/faults are experienced. Work to do: I need to replace the speaker cable feeding the W bins as it is now inadequate. The mixer lite has blown, a new led head has been ordered. I've an old Alesis comp/limiter which I hope to place before the monitor amps in the amp rack freeing up all 4 comp/lim channels at FOH. I've also got a Quadreverb unit to put FOH which does reverb/delay and other fx. PS Whilst doing work at the CP I left a pair of Beyer DT100 headphones (black headband and large white earpieces) upstairs in the old cinema room. These have now been picked up by someone. I would be very grateful if they could be returned. |
