You are cordially invited to attend a general meeting of the Common Place collective If you're interested in doing things here or have any questions please come down. The meetings are open and friendly.
Part 1
Consensus decision making where we decide all the day-to-day stuff that has to be done to keep the social centre running (including the inevitable crisis) and share out jobs.
We try to get through this within an hour and usually stick to the same structure to keep it speedy.
Non-members (of the Collective) are encouraged to attend but people need to be members to make decisions - See below about joining the Collective.

Part 2
If all the business is over and people are up for it, this is the part that isn't just reacting to the mechanics of running the space and aims to bring a bit of perspective and make sure it's still interesting and worthwhile. It can be planned in advance with members or a group giving a presentation or starting a discussion or those present sharing ideas or planning an event etc.. or it could be a post meeting drink.
The collective is based on the following principles:
Direct democracy and participatory empowerment. The collective proactively welcomes anyone to join, and hopes as many people as possible will;
That decisions should be made by the people who do the work, keep themselves informed and regularly turn up to meetings.
Joining Membership of the collective is based on equal participation and shared ownership and there's no joining procedure other than nominating yourself as a member and making a commitment to regularly attend meetings and put in a fair share of the work. The Collective is open to any member of the Common Place to join..
